Living for Jesus in 2012

New Years Resolution
By Beth Taylor

2. I will live for Christ before the world.

Philippians 1:21
21 For to me, living is for Christ, and dying is even better. (NLT)

To those who do not believe in God, life on earth is all there is, and so they strive continually for the earthly gods of money, power, position, drugs, alcohol, or anything else they deem important. They have no rest and are continually seeking more and more. Satisfaction and peace evade them. The things of this world can never take the place of God in their hearts.

Christ Jesus was the apostle Paul’s reason for living. Paul desired to live and develop eternal values by telling others about Jesus and spreading the Good News throughout the known world. Paul’s whole purpose in life was to speak out boldly for Christ and to become more like Him.

Paul could say that dying was better for him, because in death he would be with the Lord. His trials would be over, and the suffering and pain of this earth would be no more. The same is true for all believers. However, like Paul, the Lord leaves you on the earth to complete the task He gave you from the beginning of the world—the task of telling others about Him.

If you are not ready to die, then you are not ready to live. Accept the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice for you, then you will be certain of your eternal destiny. You will be free from the fear of death and free to serve the Lord by spreading the Good News. He conquered death and the grave when He rose from the grave on the third day. He desires for you to have the gift of freedom from the fear of dying.

Are you at peace with the Lord? If not, make your peace with Him, today, and live for Him during 2012.
