“I will praise You, my God and King, and bless Your name forever and ever. I will bless You every day, and I will praise You forever. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! His greatness is beyond discovery!” Psalm 145:1-3. (NLT)
Bless the Lord today. He blesses you every day. When praying, you probably ask God to bless you and your family. This is normal, but when was the last time you blessed God? There is something God desires from you, something He is incapable of providing for Himself. Naturally, it isn’t money, power, or possessions. God owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10). He is high above all people (Psalm 99:2). So what could He possibly want that He does not already possess?
The Lord desires your praise. Praise is a response of gratitude and worship to the goodness and blessings of God–a heartfelt thank-you from one of God’s creatures for the benefit of a loving creator. King David, in Psalm 103:2, prayed, “Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”
Count your blessings today and turn each benefit into an occasion to bless the Lord in a prayer of praise.
If you half-heartedly show your praise to God, your words and actions will promote division, not peace. If you rely on your own strength, you will distort God’s plan for your life and the lives of your family. If you acknowledge God only when you feel helpless, you will suddenly find yourself face to face with despair and hopelessness. The way to God will seem to be closed. Be whole-hearted in your love for the Lord, and keep in step with Him daily. Make things right and offer your sacrifice of praise to Him continually. He will then bless you.
May you have enough trials to keep you humble and enough faith to keep you happy.
