A Pleasing Aroma

“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” ~ Ephesians 5:1-2 NLT

Did you know God’s children have a pleasing aroma to Him? He thinks they smell good. The Father can pick you out in a crowd because of your pleasant odor no matter the condition of your physical body. You may be dressed in filthy rags, have an unwashed body with dirty hair, but to the Lord, you smell clean, fresh, and pleasant. You carry the aroma of Jesus.

The Father’s child posses a spiritual body washed clean by the blood of Jesus Christ.

“then burn the entire animal on the altar. This is a burnt offering to the Lord: it is a pleasing aroma, a special gift presented to the Lord.” Exodus 29:18 NLT

Israelites of old offered sacrifices commanded by God on the altar in the Tabernacle and later in the Temple. The Law of Moses delineated the special sacrifices for feasts, sin offerings, and good will offerings. The burning sacrifices attracted the Lord’s attention by sending up a pleasant aroma, and He took note of each one.

Jesus became your sacrifice. He fulfilled the law when He presented Himself as a sacrifice for the sin of mankind.

Paul said in Romans 5:15 NLT, “But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many, But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.”

Do you have the pleasant aroma of Jesus? Only by accepting His great sacrifice are you covered by His blood and have become a pleasant aroma to the Lord.
